Helping Students Transition from High School to Apprenticeship/College

Do you know a student who has the potential to succeed, yet... high school is not a place they are thriving in? Do you know a student who needs another pathway to meet new people and explore what different education options could mean for their future? Do you know a student who may have had barriers to their success in high school and could benefit from a new learning opportunity and all the free student services and academic supports that colleges offer? If you answered yes to any or all of these questions these course and programming options may be the right option for your student. We can help.

About the Program

Dual credit programs allow eligible students in high school to take college or apprenticeship courses that count towards their OSSD and a postsecondary certificate, diploma, degree or a Certificate of Apprenticeship. There are six colleges and over 40 courses offered each year with five enrollment cycles.

The Benefits

High school students taking dual credit courses benefit from the supervision and support of their college instructor and the dual credit teacher at their high school. Students also have access to a variety of college supports and services.

Recruitment/Promotion

Guidance Counsellors, you can work with your school board student success lead for any of your student’s applications. Unsure of who to contact at your board? Please contact the Colleges to discuss the Dual Credit programs or the RPT2 Coordinator Bruno Sacco for more information.

Accessibility

Does your student have an Individual Education Plan (IEP)?  This programming can help. Each college has support for Learning Services to support IEPs. And, the programming is free. All costs are covered by ministry funding.
